Connections Health Solutions was founded in 2009 by Dr. Chris Carson and Dr. Robert Williamson, who had both previously developed and implemented numerous crisis centers and programs in Texas and Arizona. Since then, the Connections team has grown to include a full staff of medical directors, nurses, therapists, recovery coaches and other support functions. Today, we are consistently recognized as a national leader and innovator in the field of behavioral health services.
President and CEO
Jeff Spight serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Connections Health Solutions overseeing all the strategic and operational aspects of the business. Jeff leverages over 20 years of healthcare industry experience with health plans and providers around the globe.
Prior to joining Connections Health Solutions, Jeff oversaw Universal American’s industry leading ACO business that featured over 35 ACOs around the country. Jeff also served on the Board of the National Association of ACOs and has been a strong voice in the movement to value based care for providers around the country.
Jeff has also held positions at McKinsey & Company, Wellcare Health Plans, AmeriHealth Caritas and Bravo Health. Jeff has an MBA from Stanford University and a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Colorado College.
Dr. Chris Carson
Founder, Chief Medical Officer, Chairman of the Board
Dr. Chris Carson is Chairman of the Board and co-founder of Connections Health Solutions. He has extensive leadership experience in a wide variety of managed behavioral health systems nationwide and a strong background in crisis services.
Dr. Carson has developed acute psychiatric services in a variety of settings, beginning in 1993 with his role as medical director of the psychiatric emergency department at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, where he led the creation of the first crisis unit to serve the needs of the public behavioral health system in Tarrant County. He then went on to develop a crisis center at Green Oaks Hospital in Dallas and served as its medical director until 2005. In 2009 he co-founded Connections Health Solutions (CHS).
In addition, Dr. Carson is a national leader in managed behavioral health systems. In February 2014 he became the National Medical Director for Utilization Management at Beacon Health Options, where he was responsible for the oversight of the medical management of all at-risk accounts nationwide. At Beacon he has had various positions of leadership and is currently the Region 4/5 CMO.
Chief Medical Officer, ConnectionsAZ
Dr. Robert Williamson functions as Connection’s Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Williamson graduated from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth Texas. He has been providing emergency psychiatric services for twenty years.
Dr. Williamson is also the co-founder of Connections Health Solutions, with his business partner Dr. Chris Carson. Connections Health Solutions was founded in 2009. During that time it has grown to include the two largest Psychiatric Crisis facilities in the country, two novel outpatient clinics as well as a nationally recognized professional services arm that provides consultative services across the country. Connections Health Solutions employs approximately 600 individuals including 50 Psychiatric providers.
Prior to founding Connections Health Solutions, Dr. Williamson was the Medical Director for the Psychiatric Emergency Center at Green Oaks Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Chief Operations Officer
Adrienne Opalka leads Connection’s healthcare operations, including RCM, HR, Center Management and other operational activities. She applies 30 years of executive leadership in Medicare, Medicaid, and multi-sector health plans and organizations.
Prior to joining Connection Health Solutions, Adrienne was VP of ACOs at Universal American, managing 7 plans and netting $22M in revenues via risk-sharing arrangements. She delivered a 40% quality score improvement. She has been COO of 3 health plans, and directly managed 4 centers with a $200M budget delivering 1M multi-specialty visits per year. She founded and managed Columbia-Presbyterian’s managed care plan, a JV of private, public and not-for-profit hospitals.
Previously Adrienne was a Consultant for Bain & Company, focusing on commercial banking mergers and acquisitions, and health care operations and technology for Fortune 500 Companies. She holds a BA from Yale University and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
Chief Growth Officer
Colin LeClair leads Connection’s business development, corporate development, implementation, and marketing functions, applying his 20 years of executive leadership experience in Medicare and Medicaid managed care organizations.
Prior to joining Connection Health Solution, Colin led business development, product development, and implementation for ConcertoHealth, growing revenue more than 8x over 4 years. Prior to ConcertoHealth Colin was the P&L leader for OPTUMCare’s ACO business in California. Under his leadership, OPTUM’s ACOs led the nation in healthcare quality, medical cost savings, and patient outcomes.
Prior to Optum, Colin held a range of progressively expanding leadership roles at several of the nation’s most successful private equity-backed managed healthcare organizations, including WellCare Health Plans, Bravo Health, and HealthSpring.
Colin holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at The University of California at Berkeley.
Chief Innovation and Technology Officer
Nicole Bradberry leads information technology operations, design and strategy for Connection Health Solutions. Prior to joining Connections, Nicole served as Founder and Managing Partner of Cura Health Management which creates and manages ACOs, and as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of the Florida Association of ACOs (FLAACOs). In parallel with her leadership in the ACO space, Nicole served as Market President for Navvis Healthcare, a population health management company.
Prior to Navvis, Nicole served as CEO of Captify Health, Chief Growth Officer of Continuum Health Alliance, and President and Co-founder of Citra Health Solutions, a population health technology and services business. Prior to Citra, she served as Chief Information Officer for Rise Health, where she led the design and implementation of a full primary care transformation suite of products, including proprietary technology and transformational business solutions. In this role, she led her team to win the prestigious U.S. Department of Health and Human Services health data award for IT innovation. In addition she spent 16 years in various leadership roles with Optum, UnitedHealthcare and CIGNA.
Ms. Bradberry holds a bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Florida.
Chief Human Resources Officer
Jill Dennis leads a professional human resources team in shaping company culture and evolving strategic workforce capability to support the achievement of business goals and objectives. With more than 20 years in human resources and over a decade in the behavioral health industry, she has extensive experience in leading organizational transformations.
As a senior leader at Connections, she built the human resources infrastructure by attracting and retaining HR professionals and developing talent acquisition, payroll, 401k, benefits, compensation, employee relations, organizational design, and learning & development.
Previously, Jill held human resources positions of increasing responsibility for Caremark, ValueOptions, Banner Health, and Magellan Health Services. Jill served as a member of the executive leadership team for the $1.5 billion AZ state contract at Magellan Health Services and led HR operations across four nationwide business units. She received her bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University.
